The Independence Community Foundation and its employees take an active role in the communities we serve and with the organizations we support. As grant makers that review hundreds of requests for support every year, we have gained a strong understanding of the complex problems faced by neighborhoods and the projects, programs and institutions that are seeking to promote positive change.
ICF staff provides technical assistance to nonprofit groups in program design and fundraising, as well as assistance with networking in the philanthropic sectors. Staff participates in and emphasizes innovative collaborations with public and private partners on behalf of grantees and their programs.
We also engage with the city’s public sector officials in a variety of capacities. These include serving as appointed members of Mayoral and governmental advisory committees, with an emphasis on the city’s affordable housing policies and programs. Workforce development and early childhood education are also fields in which we seek to work closely with local government, both in formal and informal roles.
